Purposes of SAI

...of Lambda Phi Chapter

The Lambda Phi Chapter started out as an interest group at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on April 9th, 2009. From the very beginning, the women worked hard to establish themselves as a serious organization on campus. The first meeting of the official Sigma Alpha Iota Colony of the University of Massachusetts Amherst was held on December 4th, 2009.

For the next six months, the Colony worked hard to prepare fundraisers, service projects, and recitals to complete the requirements for their colonization. During the summer of 2010, the women were informed that their petition had been accepted and they were on their way to becoming Members In Training.

On October 29th, 2010 the MIT process of the future Lambda Phi chapter began when the group pledged themselves to become members of Sigma Alpha Iota. Three months later, on January 16th, 2011, the women were initiated as official members of Sigma Alpha Iota and the Lambda Phi chapter was installed.
